The students will learn about the Chinese Cultural Revolution. The students will comprehend the important vocabulary during the Cultural Revolution.

Lesson Introduction
Students will produce a K-W-L chart pertaining to Chinese Communist Revolution, but focus on the Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward.

Content Delivery
The information will be briefly reviewed through a background essay. The students will be given the information along with a teacher read aloud to help the students know how to pronounce more difficult Chinese names and terms.
Student Engagement
The students will be put into groups of four (4). They will be presented vocabulary words through a Quizlet interactive:

The students will compete in a vocabulary quiz game which will allow the students to gain more information about the important terms. The students will write down their answers (3 rounds of 5 terms), and then have their neighboring groups grade it. The team with the best scores will go onto a playoffs which the winner will be awarded extra points going into the final.

Lesson Closure
Each group will be given two vocabulary words and they will (individually) create a mini picture dictionary. If time permits, a few students will present theirs and why they chose them.
Assessments
Formative: The students will be answering vocabulary terms through a quiz method and scores will be recorded. The instructor will understand which terms their students will need more review with.
Summative: The students will choose some vocabulary terms (which we went over) and conduct a drawing which will allow the instructor to know if the student understood the information.

Accommodations for English Learners, Striving Readers, and Students with Special Needs
ELs and Striving Readers will be accommodated by the instructor pronouncing the words that might be a little difficult and will be reading along with the students.
Students with Special Needs will be accommodated by being in groups with both advanced and will accommodate the lesson.
